We’ve known Edwin Noreña for a while now. He’s been a part of our lineup since year one, and over time, his coffees have become some of the most unique and sought-after selections we release. If you’ve been around a bit, you’ve probably seen names like IPA, Golden Washed, or Lychee Process. Coffees that taste like nothing else on the table. That’s Edwin.
This year, we finally got the chance to visit him at Campo Hermoso, his farm and processing center in Armenia, Quindío. He refers to it as a coffee research and development lab, and once you step onto the drying patio or peek into the fermentation tanks, you understand why. Everything is measured, logged, and optimized. Edwin is an agronomist, a scientist, and a producer who’s constantly thinking about how to move Colombian coffee forward, not just for himself but for everyone.
But this coffee is something different.
This Sidra lot is fully washed. No fruit inoculations, no wild yeast, no fermentation experiments. Just clean, careful processing that highlights what Sidra can be when grown at 1850 MASL and handled with intention. The variety itself is originally from Ecuador, and Edwin has spent the last few years introducing it into Colombia, planting seedlings and studying how they respond to his farm’s climate, elevation, and soil.
The result is stunning. Bright and structured with a tropical core. Kiwi, apricot jam, and sweet basil. It’s not the loudest coffee Edwin has ever produced, but it might be the most elegant.
To us, this release captures something essential about his work. Precision, long-term thinking, and a deep respect for what coffee can become when every variable is understood and respected.
