Pedro Solano has been a special partner for us since we first visited his farm in 2022. This year, we made the trip back to Ocamonte, a small town in the Santander region known for its classic, sweet, and chocolatey coffees. Santander is rock steady, delivering the same quality year after year, and Pedro continues to produce some of the best. It’s sweet, rich, and silky with notes of maraschino cherries and almonds that really shine through.
What made this visit even more meaningful was seeing the growth Pedro has experienced. He’s now working on a new farm, just 10 minutes up the mountain from his original one, which he still operates. Seeing the improvements to his setup and the quality of life for his family was incredible. Pedro greeted us with warm hospitality—lunch, beers, and great conversations about coffee. It’s clear his commitment to his work hasn’t changed, and neither has the pride his community feels for him.
In 2022, we bought 100% of Pedro’s lot, and this year, we’ve done the same. The connection we have with Pedro and the pride his community takes in seeing their coffee reach the world—it’s what makes partnerships like these so rewarding.
Thanks to Yellow Rooster Coffee Imports for making this partnership possible again.
