About Resident

Resident Coffee Roasters was founded in Gainesville, Florida, in 2020 by Gabe Chavez and Noe Lopez.

The idea began taking shape before Resident had a name. Wyatt’s Coffee, our small downtown café, gave us a place to learn what mattered to us. It taught us how seriously we wanted to take coffee, how much hospitality could change someone’s day, and how important it was to build something connected to the community around it.

Resident grew from the desire to take greater responsibility for the coffee itself. We wanted to choose coffees intentionally, roast them ourselves, and create a clearer connection between the people producing them and the people drinking them.

Resident began as a small roasting company, but it has continued to grow into a fuller expression of what we care about.

In 2025, we opened our café in northwest Gainesville. It gave us the opportunity to bring everything together in one place: the coffees we roast, a thoughtful food program, genuine hospitality, and a space designed for people to spend time together.

The roastery and café are different parts of the same idea. Whether we are preparing an order to ship across the country or serving someone across the bar, we want the experience to feel considered, generous, and alive.
