About

Telling the stories of incredible coffee and the remarkable people involved along the way.

Resident Coffee started in 2020, but the heart of it started earlier.

Before Resident existed, there was Wyatt's Coffee. Wyatt's opened in downtown Gainesville in 2018 with a simple goal: create remarkable experiences, serve insanely good coffee, and love the community well. That little shop became the testing ground for so much of what would later shape Resident.

It was where hospitality was sharpened, where our standards around coffee got clearer, and where we learned that what people remember most is not just what was in the cup, but how it made them feel.

As we grew, so did the desire to build something more focused around the coffees themselves. Not just serving great coffee, but sourcing and roasting coffees with real intention and presenting them in a way that gave proper weight to the people behind them. That became Resident.

From the beginning, Resident has been built around one mission: telling the stories of incredible coffee and the remarkable people involved along the way. That means producers, exporters, importers, roasters, baristas, cooks, and guests. Coffee is not just a product to us. It is the result of countless human decisions, years of labor, risk, craft, and care. Our responsibility is to honor that well.

Resident began as a roasting company. Over time, it became more than that. It became a way for us to more fully express what we care about most: exceptional coffee, thoughtful hospitality, meaningful food, and spaces that feel alive with purpose.

Everything we do, from the coffees we source to the way they are served at the bar, is meant to close the gap between the cup and the people who made it possible.

Today, Resident continues to grow, but the mission has stayed the same. We want to present coffee with clarity and care. We want to make room for people to feel connected to what they're drinking. And we want to keep building something in Gainesville that feels deeply rooted, deeply human, and worth coming back to.
