Kolla sits high in Gera, surrounded by some of the oldest wild coffee forests in Ethiopia. This lot comes from smallholder farmers in the area and is processed at Telila, a station run by Mike Mamo and the team at Osito. They’re meticulous with their work. Every delivery is separated by kebele, which gives a clearer look at what each community produces. It’s rare to see that level of detail at a station this busy.
The 2024 to 2025 harvest in Gera was a strange one. Rains didn’t arrive on time, cherries ripened unevenly, and prices spiked early in the season. Selective picking becomes harder under those conditions, yet the team at Telila pushed through with slow, steady washing and long drying times on raised beds. It’s the kind of season where discipline matters.
In the cup, this lot has the soft fruit character we always look for from Gera. Honey sweetness, floral lift, and that canned peach quality that shows up year after year. A little rhubarb acidity keeps it bright without tipping it sharp. It’s a grounded, balanced profile from a region we trust.
