Fazendas Rodomunho sits in Tapira, Brazil, where brothers Renato, Thiago, and Rodrigo Corsi are the fourth generation of their family to grow coffee.
The Corsi family’s history in Brazil goes back generations, beginning with Rubens Corsi and Elzi Faria. After the devastating Black Frost of 1975, the family relocated their coffee production to Cerrado Mineiro, a region much less susceptible to frost and now one of Brazil’s most recognized coffee-growing areas.
Today, the brothers manage three different growing areas across the farm, producing specialty coffees while preparing the fifth generation of the Corsi family to eventually carry things forward.
This lot is Catucaí 2SL, a hybrid of Icatú and Catuaí known for its disease resistance and high productivity. After mechanical harvesting, the coffee is carefully sorted for ripe cherries before being sealed in tanks for 60 hours of anaerobic fermentation. From there, the cherries are spread across concrete patios and dried under the sun until reaching around 11% moisture.
The result is a really fun expression of Brazilian coffee. Sweet, fruit-forward, and full, with tons of character while still having that chocolatey structure we love.
Big thanks to the Corsi family for sharing this coffee with us.
