Sítio Tomazini sits in Bateia, Castelo, in Brazil’s Espírito Santo region. The Tomazini family has been farming this land for generations, and Valdeir Dalcin Tomazini is the great-grandson of the first members of his family to work the property.

Today, Valdeir runs the farm alongside his wife Maria and their children, Aline and Abner. Since 2001, the family has focused on producing specialty quality pulped coffees and were among the first farms in the region to adopt processing practices specifically focused on improving cup quality.

The farm is home to more than 22,000 coffee trees and produces around 250 bags each year, with roughly a third reaching specialty quality. Their best coffees typically come from the September through October harvest, after the most extreme weather of the season has passed. Valdeir says he can even see when the quality is at its highest because the cherries begin to grow slightly larger.

There’s something we really love about a family continuing to work the same land while constantly pushing the quality of what comes from it. We’re really excited to share Valdeir and the Tomazini family’s coffee with you.

Big thanks to Osito Coffee and the Tomazini family for sharing this coffee with us.
